REALITY: Thoughts are not the challenge. It is believing your thoughts that can lead to problems…..
Somewhere, somehow, it got into our minds that this equation is true — meditation = no thoughts
And perhaps, that is the end goal. But for most of us, it is not our current truth!
If you are new to meditation, that is like expecting it will sound like Beethoven the first time you play a piano, or you will dominate like Micheal Jordan the first time you pick up a basketball!
Meditation Takes Practice
The truth is, they call it a Meditation Practice for a reason. It takes practice! And expecting to hit every three-pointer when you don’t even know the rules of the game is unrealistic.
So, let’s break it down……
The mind thinks. That is how it processes the experiences, stresses and strains we encounter (and store from the past). Thoughts are the natural movement of this mental digestive process.
Thoughts are like clouds. They come and go. The problem is we believe that just because we think it, it must be true. And that is not necessarily true!
You know this. How often have you thought something about someone that causes a huge rigamarole, and when the air is finally cleared you discovered it was all a misunderstanding based on incorrect thoughts (ideas, assumptions or expectations). Ooopsie…..
So if you think; I cannot meditate, it’s best to NOT believe it. 🙂
Because meditation is not something you do. It is a simple, natural being of mindful awareness and observation which ANYONE can do…. (though like anything worth the effort, it may take some practice 🙂

Try this Simple Meditation Practice
Take 10 minutes to sit and simply observe your thoughts!
Practice witnessing the mental movements of judgement, expectations, assumptions, anticipations and just see what unfolds.
Consider this, just because you think it, doesn’t mean it is true!
Thoughts will come and go, just like the clouds in the sky. And if you can observe it, then it is outside of you, it is not YOU…..
“The moment you start watching your thoughts, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated.”
~ Eckhart Tolle
