At the heart of Bach Flower Remedies is a profound simplicity, offering a gentle and natural way to support emotional balance and a deeper awareness of your own Inner Guidance.
WHO
Bach Flower Remedies were developed by Dr. Edward Bach (1886–1936), an English physician and homeopath who devoted his later life to understanding the natural relationship between emotional states and well-being.
WHAT
The Bach Flower Remedies are a system of 38 flower essences from common plants and trees, each corresponding to a specific negative mood or emotional state such as fear, uncertainty, loneliness, or despair. They are taken in small drops and selected according to how a person feels.
WHERE
They were discovered in the English countryside, where Dr. Bach lived and worked closely with nature, gathering wildflowers and preparing the remedies using simple, natural methods. Most are found in the parks, forests and natural green spaces in Canada today.
WHEN
The system was developed between 1928 and 1935 and was completed before Dr. Bach’s passing in 1936. The Flower Essence remedies remain unchanged as originally created. Simplicity is key.
WHY
Dr. Bach taught that imbalance begins when there is disharmony between one’s Inner Guidance and their everyday thoughts and actions. The flower essences are intended to gently support a return to integration by awakening positive qualities that correspond to each emotional state, therefore effectively equalizing the negative emotional experience, tendency or mood.
HOW
The flower essences are prepared by infusing the ripe flowers in pure water using sunlight or gentle boiling, then preserving this essence. A few drops are taken directly or in water, chosen through honest awareness of one’s present negative mood or emotional condition rather than physical symptoms. Dr. Bach’s hope was for every family to have access to this simple and natural healing.

IMPATIENS
A Subtle Perspective
In both Yoga and Ayurveda, emotional states are understood to influence the flow of prana and the balance of the five elements and doshas (vata, pitta and kapha). What is felt in the mind is already shaping the body.
The Bach remedies meet these levels gently, not by correcting the body, but by bringing awareness to the present emotional state. In doing so, they contribute to a natural return to balance, where each disturbance carries within it its own opposite quality: fear toward courage, restlessness toward calm. Understanding the seven main categories of balance potential is a meaningful exploration of self reflection.
Even the simple act of pausing with a breath before taking a remedy becomes part of the process, turning a habitual emotional reaction into the potential for a transformational moment of awareness. The use of an affirmation alongside the remedy can deepen awareness of the quality being restored.
Our practices of Yoga, Ayurveda and Meditation have been strengthened and uplifted through the support of Bach Flower Essences. Our family benefits and we’re grateful to have the complimentary ease of such natural herbal support in our everyday lives.
“Even I was skeptical at first, but I wanted to deepen my work on personal fear. After taking Bach Flower Remedies, I noticed significant shifts in my awareness with healing of fears that had lingered since childhood. I was genuinely surprised! And, yes, my wife Shankari did the consultations, so I guess I have to give her some credit! 😉” – Yogesh Van Acker
